Monday Morning Walk

Each Monday morning starting at 8:00 a.m. a group of walkers meet at the Lo de Marcos plaza for a one hour saunter. The average age of the walkers is 75. Sandals and shorts work for most of the time. Each week there is a different walk and is posted on Facebook page: What’s Up Lo de Marcos. There is no fee for this event.

For more serious hikers there is a scheduled hike each Thursday during High Season. The time and starting location are the same. This alternative event is also posted on Facebook page What’s Up Lo de Marcos.

Yadira

Yadira

Above Mini Super Omar and across the street from Endless Summer is a real Mexican restaurant. This is a family owned establishment and well worth the find and trip up the stairs.

The establishment is not open all the time, but… when it is you are assured a fresh hand made meal.

La Flor Panderia

La Panaderia Rustica

On Calle Luis Echeverria, across from Tianguis Lo de Marcos. This family owned bakery is open many mornings with fresh baked bread, some filled with chocolate, spinach, mushroom, ham, jelly and more.

I think is important to mention the sourdough bread and the baguette, many clients like them.

Rellenitos, Roles de Canela, Pan con chocolate, Baguettes, Sourdough, Cafe y mas.

Cafe Iyari

The cafe is located in the home of casa Iyari, Ave. Del Bosque and Antonio Fray Alcalde. Known as the Casa del Mural this is the house of not only a delicious cafe but also a number of community supported activities. Children´s hour, Poetry reading and Embroidery to name a few.

Food is currently cooked and served Mon-Wed 10AM–2PM. Ave. Del Bosque is one of the long streets in Lo de Marcos and easy to find. Also the casa is hard to miss with its beautiful mural.

“If you need a reprieve from tacos try this lovely hidden gem full of goodness. The bone broth brought us back to life, the kraut cut the richness of all the meat and the greens were fresh and spicy. “Great place! Mellow atmosphere, real, fresh, local food and great people. The cheese and ferments plate is great and we love the locally made kombucha. Super kid friendly with garden space that includes climbing tree, mini pond and mud cake kitchen for the kids to explore. Bone broth and dishes made to order by a knowledgable and friendly lady make this a must stop place if you are in Lo de Marcos, or just order a coffee and watch the hummingbirds visit the feeders hanging in the garden guava tree.” nancy roberts
